Solar Energy

Aim: To learn about how solar energy is used.

Hypothesis: I think that black is going to attract the heat.

Materials:
1 ; Heat Lamp
2 ; White Paper
3 ; White Cup
4 ; Clear Cup
5 ; Black Plastic
6 ; Tinfoil
7 ; Thermometer
8 ; Water

Steps:
1 ; Gather your materials.
2 ; Cover one of the white cups with tinfoil and place it on a tinfoil sheet, Cover the clear cup with black plastic and place it onto a black plastic sheet. Lastly, with the other white cup place it onto the white paper
3 ; Cover one of your cups with tinfoil.
4 ; Place the cup with tinfoil on a sheet of tinfoil
5 ; Get your clear cup and put black plastic over the sides.
6 ; Place the cup with black plastic on a sheet of black plastic.
7 ; Get a white cup and place it on a sheet of white paper.
8 ; Put the cups in a line close together.
9 ; Place light in front of the cups.
10 ; Every 15 minutes use your thermometer to record the data of all three of the cups.

Activity:

In pairs rate the livability of coal vs solar energy.

Conclusion:

1. Solar power is more sustainable than coal is.
2. Sun, wind & water are all renewable energy.
3. The colour black attracts sun & heat.

❝ Water Cycle Experiments₊˚.💦

Title: Water Cycle Experiments

Aim: To learn about water on earth

Scientific Words: Evaporation: When water is heated by radiant energy it turns into water vapor.
Transpiration: Evaporation from plants.
Condensation: When water vapor cools, molecules join together and form clouds.
Precipitation: When clouds get heavy the water falls as rain, sleet, hail or snow.
Acidification: The action or process of making or becoming acidic.

Purpose: The purpose is to duplicate the water cycle process in a controlled.

Materials:
  • Water - 100ml
  • Blue Food Coloring
  • A4 Zip Lock Bag x2
  • Vivid
  • Litmus
  • Baking Soda - 1 Teaspoon
  • Double-sided tape
Procedures:
  1. Gather your materials.
  2. Using your vivid draw a picture of the water cycle on the bag.
  3. Add the labels of what the parts of the water cycle.
  4. Add 50m of water to the bag.
  5. Add 2 drops of blue food colouring.
  6. Zip up the bag.
  7. Tape the bag to a window using double-sided tape.
  8. Get your other bag.
  9. Repeat the drawing steps on bag two.
  10. Add 50m of soda water.
  11. Add one teaspoon of baking soda.
  12. Zip up the bag but leaving a small gap.
  13. Put one strip of litmus paper in leaving it half in the bag and half out.
  14. Make sure the zip lock is closed and securing the paper.
  15. Tape the bag to the window next to bag one using double sided tape.
  16. Wait for a few days-weeks.
  17. Watch as the condensation builds up.
Conclusion:

If you follow these steps you will be able to do the experiment successfully and replicate the water
cycle process in controlled conditions.

The New Kahui's.

The New Kahui's

This week, the year 7 & 8's moved into the new Kahui's. The classes together are, TS with SH, DS with AL & MT and TZ & BH. All three buildings had different names, Mohua, Riroriro and Tieke. TS & SH are Tieke. All of the buildings are named after native birds. It took two years including the Learning Commons and Learning Street for it all to be built. I wasn't here on Monday or Tuesday so I didn't get to explore much of the classroom.

When I walked into our new buildings I saw, bright orange walls, different bright colored tables, dark blue chairs, bright orange bookshelf to match the wall, white and grey walls complementing the orange. There was a large seating that looked like stairs, at the back of the seating was tables and plugs for students. There was also cubes on the sides of the seating with a table just big enough for two students. There was a large tall black table, it looked like it could only be comfortable for the tall people. There was a door leading out into the field, there was lots of classrooms in one building.

When I walked into our new buildings I thought, that it looked much bigger and had much more space then our other classrooms. I thought it was going to be smaller, but it looked much bigger to what I had imagined. I thought I was going to get lost in these new buildings because of how similar all buildings looked. I thought that the outside area was amazing, the seating with umbrellas covering the seats to block the sun, the hill of fake grass looked nice.

When I walked into our new buildings I felt, scared, anxious and excited. I felt scared and anxious because it was new buildings and I didn't know which one to go into. I had to ask a couple of friends to know which building I was in. At the same time I felt a sense of excitement, it was a new building and new area, feeling excited is a good feeling. There was also a new timetable that I had to get used to for next term.

Tane Mahuta

Tane Mahuta
Week 5
190821

This week for Tane Mahuta, we went back into our three groups. The first group went with Mark to prune trees, the second group helped Mrs.Alan with the outside classroom. Lastly, the third group went with Mr.Tisch to help with the veggie beds.

On one side, Makenzie and I raked the dirt while the others on the other side loosened the dirt with the shovels. Once Makenzie and I finished raking one side the others went ahead and started planting some vegetables. Makenzie and I continued to rake the other side.

After interval, we made a tunnel on top of the veggie beds.

When we were finished with the tunnel, we helped Mrs.Alan with the outside classroom. We put different objects into assigned spots. If any of the parts had metal or wood on it they would break it off.

Climate Change - Game

Reflection

What is Climate Change?A change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century on wards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels.

What is Game Froot? ( The site I used to make my game )Gamefroot learning packages bring together the art of game development with step-by-step courses ready to be integrated seamlessly into your curriculum.

Why did I use Game Froot?
Originally I was going to do an app and provide information, but at the same time I wanted to make an game. I decided

Art Hurumanu - 1

Thursday April 4th 2019
Today, we had to create our Story Board for our Art Hurumanu. Our story is about Two Bully's who
bully a innocent student. Then one of her best friends stick up for her and tell the bully's why it's not good and the bully take the advice and don't bully anymore.

Our next step is to finish the Storyboard Sketch and fix up our handwriting.

Feedback from another group:

Positive: We liked how you labelled the people so we can see who's, who.

Helpful: You could probably do your handwriting a little bit better.

Thoughtful: We like the way that you drew the props so that we can see what they are.
Also finish it !!
