Science - Balloon Chemistry

Hurumanu - Balloon Chemisrty

Image result for baking soda balloonsAim: To see which chemical
mix creates the most gas.

Hypothesis: (What do I think will happen)
I think that the 'Baking Soda and Vinegar' will make the best reaction.

Materials:
Bottle
Funnel
Balloon
Vinegar

Salt
Baking Soda
Soda water
Yest

Steps:
1) Then pour the liquid in the bottle.
2) Put the ingredients through the funnel (or in the ballon)
3) Quickly put the balloon over and watch the gas fill the balloon

Findings:

Balloon 1
( 3 tsp baking soda, ½ cup vinegar)
Balloon 2
( 3 tsp salt, ½ cup soda)
Balloon 3
( 2 tsp yeast, 1 tsp sugar )
Balloon Size (cm)
8.5cm - Height
4.5cm - Width
10.5cm - Height
5.8cm - Width

Conclusion:

I thought that the Baking Soda and Vinegar would make the best reaction and I was right (Pink Balloon)

Skittles

Aim: To separate colours from skittles by using the chromatography.

Materials;

1. Petri Dish
2. Skittles
3. Water

Process:

Step 1: Place the skittles in the Petri Dish
Step 2: Pour the water into the dish.
Step 3: Watch the water change color!

Conclusion:

Today in science we tried the 'Skittle Experiment' where we put skittles into a clear container and the color of the skittles dissolve in the water. It didn't take much time for the colors to dissolve into the water.

The color from the skittles disolves into the water and spreads through the water.
The 'S' in the skittle floated to the top of the water. I also learnt that Skittles taste weird when soaked in water.

Home Chemistry - Science ¬ Mr Palmer ¬ Introduction

Home Chemistry
Tuesday 2nd April 2019

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.

Definitions:

  1. Element; A single form of a chemical
  2. Compound: A mixture made up of 2 or more elements
  3. Reaction: A process in which chemicals mix together to form a new substance.
  4. Mixture: When two or more elements are mixed together.

Equipment:

  1.     Lemon Juice
  2.     Salt
  3.   Sugar
  4.   Vinegar
  5.   Lemonade Bubbles
  6.   Onion Gas
  7.   Baking Soda
  8.  Milk
  9.  Cornflour
  10. Banana
Steps:

1. Search up the objects name.
2. Put it into a table.
3. Fill out the gaps.
4. Write the conclusion.

Art Hurumanu - 1

Thursday April 4th 2019
Today, we had to create our Story Board for our Art Hurumanu. Our story is about Two Bully's who
bully a innocent student. Then one of her best friends stick up for her and tell the bully's why it's not good and the bully take the advice and don't bully anymore.

Our next step is to finish the Storyboard Sketch and fix up our handwriting.

Feedback from another group:

Positive: We liked how you labelled the people so we can see who's, who.

Helpful: You could probably do your handwriting a little bit better.

Thoughtful: We like the way that you drew the props so that we can see what they are.
Also finish it !!

CIP - Plum Jam Poster + Label

Wednesday 3rd April 2019 ~ 03/04/19
CIP
( Community Impact Project )
Tane Mahuta
------------------------------------------------------------
Period One & Two
( Kiwi Kaha + CIP )

Mr. Tisch sorted out different groups Gardening, Compost & Jam. We got to choose what group we wanted to go in. I choose 'Jam'

Mr. Tisch went with gardening and Mr. Mitchell went with Compost.

and Mr. White stayed with the Jam group.

We had to make Posters and Labels for the Plum Jam.

-Morning Tea-
-----------------------------------------
Period Three & Four

After Morning Tea, we continued on with or Labels and Posters.
