Opening Scene:

Music: Starts off quietly, Childs music box, Repeated lyrics (Dreaming), Creepy, Humming.

Perspective - Other Mother POV :

We can see from her as if we are here and know it's her by the needle hands.

• Use of  close-up shot: 
  Makes audience focus on doll not on creator.

• Lighting/Colour:
  Dim, Dark, Green, Faded, Sets the mood/Atmosphere, Old, Vintage, Rustic, Unappealing and run down, 

Setting - Pink Palace - Real World

• Music:
  Happy, Gentle, Harmony, Sung by children, lyrics in a mad up language
• Music Change: 
  Changes to increase tension, faster, louder, minor.
• Coraline:
  Sassy, moody, stubborn, bright colours: blue hair, yellow raincoat and rain boots, dragonfly hair clip. 
• Colour/Lighting: 
  Dull, grey, boring, dark, bland, tinted, makes the "real" house feel depressing, old.
• Parents:
  Boring, stubborn, not interested, unhappy, workaholics, no time for Coraline, tired, sleep deprived, depressed.

The other world:

Brighter then the other world, happier painting, happy environment, better food, 

• Color/Lighting: bright, vibrant, warm, welcoming, makes it feel inviting, safe, Coraline doesn't stand out anymore.
• Other Parents: fun, give Coraline attention, energetic, cooked her a nice meal, they look happy and healthy unlike the real parents.
• Music: spooky music, slow pace, sad, gentle, doesn't match what we're seeing, minor, quiet.

The real neighbors:

• Colour - greys, dark, mournful, sad colours - palette, foggy, washed out, 
  - rundown, dusty, sticky
• Lighting - dark/gloomy - inside house, cold light,
  - shabby, dark, poor
• Music - bland, background, medium pace,
  - latin style, upbeat, movement
• Setting - forest, looks dead, house is old, rustic,
  - basement, theater room, used to be fashionable, now is dated,
• Characters - Mr Bobinsky - russian, drunk, awkward, weird, washed out blue - looked green
  - Miss Spink & Forcible - they argue, apposites but like the same thing, actress, old fashioned, confident, attention-seeker, Coraline doesn't like them but they're better than nothing

The other neighbors:

• Color - bright, light, friendly, welcoming, - good dark, shiney, bright, vibrant, clean, healthy looking
• Lighting - warm light - orange/yellow,
  - warm - spotlights are bright
• Music - loud, joyful, circus music, playful, minor, upbeat, 
  - energetic, brass
• Setting - garden is alive, house is painted/ looks new, colorful, clean, organised, 
  - theater, grand, large, posh, good condition
• Characters - Mr Bobinsky - clean/tidy, brighter/healthy blue, smiling, nice to coraline - gets her name right, happy, carefree, clearer pronunciation,  
  Miss Spink & Forcible - transformed: young, thin, attractive, talented actresses/ acrobatics, up to date fashion, modern
  - Coraline likes them, is enthusiastic to have them as neighbors. 

The Beldam:

• Colors - dark, green, pink and purple, vibrant, bright, neon colours, colourful, fades to white, cold, 
• Lighting - dark, cold, unsafe
• Music - slower, quiet, menacing, creepy, deep, eerie atmosphere, scary, other world, suspicious
• Setting - chocolate & furniture were beetles, transforms from to the perfect home to a spider web - polluted
