Skittles

Aim: To separate colours from skittles by using the chromatography.

Materials;

1. Petri Dish
2. Skittles
3. Water

Process:

Step 1: Place the skittles in the Petri Dish
Step 2: Pour the water into the dish.
Step 3: Watch the water change color!

Conclusion:

Today in science we tried the 'Skittle Experiment' where we put skittles into a clear container and the color of the skittles dissolve in the water. It didn't take much time for the colors to dissolve into the water.

The color from the skittles disolves into the water and spreads through the water.
The 'S' in the skittle floated to the top of the water. I also learnt that Skittles taste weird when soaked in water.

  2. Hey Kahciar, I really love how you had picture of the experiment on your blog. Your experiment looked really interesting and it seems like a lot of fun. I just have a little question about your experiment. The red, the green, the yellow, and the orange turned all of there part of the water there colour but the brown only had an outline keeping the colour from reaching the water, why do you think that happened? But something you could work on is maybe adding more information to your posts, me personally love science and would love to know your opinion of the experiment and possibly thing that went wrong or went right, or possibly even you think you could do better next time. -Heaven
