SEXXXY PARAGRAPH:
In the real world kitchen scene, lighting and color are used effectively to show looks can be deceiving. We see this when Coraline and her real parents are eating in the kitchen. The room is naturally lit from the cloudy window making the room feel dull and uninviting. The color in the room is grey and this yellowish-white. It is used effectively in this perspective for Coraline sees this place more as a place to stay instead of a welcoming and loving home.

SEXXXY PARAGRAPHS:
In the other world kitchen, lighting and color are used effectively to show looks can be deceiving. We can see this because we see the Other Mother stirring a mixture in the bowl. The room has a warm artificial light coming from the lightbulbs making the room feel safe and comfortable. The colour palette in the room is a oranges, yellows and little tints of pink. In Coraline's perspective, the other kitchen is a place she'd rather be than the real world. This makes the viewers feel that it's a welcoming home and Coraline is going to enjoy it. The director did this to show how Coraline feels in the real world compared to the other world because in the other world the colours have a light and warm tone whereas the real world has a cold and dark tone.
In Coraline's other world bedroom, the lighting and colour are used effectively to show that looks can be deceiving. We can see this because Coraline is standing in her other world bedroom. The bedroom has a warm light coming from the lamps, this makes the bedroom feel comfortable. This makes the viewers feel that Coraline feels more loved and welcomed in the other world than the real world. The director did this to show that Coraline feels more comfortable to be in the other world bedroom other than her real bedroom.
